Arizona State Considers Big 12 Best Expansion
The Big 12 is an athletic conference of college colleges that is headquartered in Irving, Texas. It consists of ten member universities and is a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. It has an overall membership of 30,000 students. The conference’s mission is to foster competition and academic achievement among college students.
Arizona State
Arizona State is a potential member of the Big 12. The state’s schools have been in talks with the Big 12 for years, and the expansion would provide stability and increased visibility to both programs. However, there are some concerns about this expansion. First, Arizona State’s football program has struggled recently. Second, Arizona State’s basketball program would benefit from playing in the Big 12.
In addition to Arizona State, Texas and Oklahoma are expected to leave the Big 12 soon. If Arizona State becomes a member of the Big 12, it could potentially compete with other Pac-12 schools for a spot in the conference. Arizona State, which is located in Phoenix, has struggled in recent years. But its location in the largest city in the country could help it stand out in a new conference. The Sun Devils would also have a chance to get out from under the shadow of USC, which is currently the league’s most powerful member.
The expansion plan would also bring in the University of Washington, Oregon, Washington, who have a large television market and would add a new level of competition to the conference. Washington is a popular choice for Big Ten expansion as well, as the Seattle television market is a desirable location for conferences. It would also be a great opportunity for the Big 12 to expand into the Pacific Northwest.
As for the rest of the Big 12, a few teams in the PAC-12 may move to the Big 10. However, such a move is unlikely to happen in the near future. The current media rights deal between the two conferences expires after the 2024-25 academic year, making the expansion unlikely. Arizona State does not appear to be interested in the expansion, but Washington State does seem to be in a good mood.
The Pac-12 has a contract with ESPN and Fox and the University of Arizona will join the league after those media rights expire. This expansion will allow the Pac-12 to include as many as 16 schools. Currently, it has six members. Its current members include Baylor, Kansas, Texas Tech, Texas, and West Virginia. The league has a storied history, dating back to 1978, when Arizona moved from the Western Athletic Conference and Colorado joined from the Mountain West.
If the expansion is allowed to go through, it will be an incredible boost for the conference’s athletics. With these additions, the Big 12 will gain a new member and fill the power vacuum left by the Pac-12. Once the Big 12 is established, it could become the next power conference in the college football world.
Despite the controversy surrounding this expansion, it remains an incredible accomplishment for both parties. The Pac-12 and Big 12 will be able to compete on a level playing field with the best programs in the country. As a result, they will be able to grow their football programs.
Besides the schools, the expansion will also give the Big 12 a chance to attract more teams to the conference. In addition to Arizona State, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado are all part of the process of applying to the Big 12. If the expansion goes through, this move will give the Big 12 an advantage over the Pac-12.
The Big 12 is currently considering expanding its conferences to a larger size, but it would need to add four new teams in the future. Two more teams would be in the Pacific Time Zone, giving the conference a greater presence in Southern California and Dallas-Fort Worth. However, the move would not replace the Pac-12’s presence in Los Angeles. Additionally, both conferences have been discussing the possibility of a broadcasting partnership. A shared media rights deal would help both conferences reach a larger audience and provide better value for the media.
However, the expansion plan may have other consequences. The Big Ten’s primary media partner Fox would likely consider the addition of four Pac-12 schools a “dilutive” addition to the Big Ten’s portfolio. The expansion would add 112 additional games to the Big Ten’s schedule each year. Additionally, the new members would have greater potential for realignment.
As an additional member, BYU will be an important addition to the Big 12. The Buffalos are already members of the Big Eight. Their inclusion in the Big 12 will further revitalize the oldest rivalry in college football. The two schools currently play each other once a year. The addition of BYU would make it one of the premier matchups in the conference.
Arizona State University
While Arizona State has been part of the Pac-12 since 1978, the Sun Devils have been part of the Big 12 since 2008. However, the landscape in college football is changing, and many schools are left on their own. Arizona State is a major player in Arizona and is in a good position to be part of the new conference.
A potential expansion would not only bring new teams to the Big 12, but could help the conference in the future. The Big 12 could benefit from adding power-conference programs to its ranks, and Arizona’s men’s basketball team would fit in perfectly. In addition, the addition of Arizona State would help the conference reach the Phoenix market, a huge TV market. This would help the conference grow its reach to three or four time zones.
Arizona State University could also leave the Pac-12, although boosters of the Sun Devils do not believe that Arizona State will leave the Pac-12. Currently, the Pac-12 and Big 12 share a television deal, which is expected to expire in 2024. While the Pac-12 is believed to stick together west of the Rockies, the Big 12 can be aggressive in expanding its footprint.
If Arizona State University is not part of the Big 12 expansion, the Pac-12 would likely target other top teams in the Pac-12. The decision will probably affect the remaining Pac-12 programs. The Pac-12 is in great trouble after losing USC and UCLA. Losing those two teams would make the conference a 10-team conference.
The expanded Big 12 would include five schools in the west, and would be more convenient to schedule. In addition to adding Arizona State University, the Big 12 could also add the four-corner schools Brigham Young, Central Florida and West Virginia. However, these schools don’t meet all of the criteria. Nevertheless, Arizona State University is part of the expansion plans, and the Sun Devils and Cowboys will play a football game.
Several teams from the Pac-12 are considering joining the Big 12. However, the Pac-12 has not confirmed anything. Nevertheless, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado have already scheduled meetings. Hopefully, the Big 12 can add these schools to its conference. But who knows? Arizona State University could join before the Pac-12 does.
The Big 12’s expansion plans have been fueled by the growing dissatisfaction with the Pac-12. The decision by Arizona State University to join the Big 12 is a huge blow for the Pac-12. The university has over 52,000 graduates in the state and three of its four alumni associations are located in Southern California.
Oregon is another possible candidate for joining the Big 12. The Oregon Ducks may want to join the conference after USC and UCLA moved to the Big Ten. While they might not be the first choice for the Big 12, their inclusion could make the conference more attractive to both parties. It will also help the conference increase its profile on the west coast.
The expansion plan also includes Colorado, which fields teams in 17 sports and was a member of the Big 12 until it left the conference to join the Pac-12. Likewise, Utah has a large number of teams and is one of the largest members of the Mountain West and Western Athletic Conference. Additionally, the conference would also have a natural traveling partner in BYU, which will become a member of the Big 12 in 2023.
